Ask Zoe: Skincare
This is the most popular question that women ask me. "What skin care do you use?" After a short time of using Synergy (Aussie company) that I enjoyed, I had a friend who insisted I try DMK (US based). I wasn't really interested. I had just spent over $400 on Synergy products and I wanted to get my moneys worth. My friends kept raving about their results, so I gave in and went.
DMK have a signature treatment called the "Enzyme facial" I was told this is the MUST have facial.
I had my first facial and I wasn't happy with my results. The product was so effective my eyes had a reaction and swelled. I FREAKED OUT! I was completely mortified and thought I would never go back.
Deb who is the head honcho of DMK facials was so distressed (she even called me 6 times to check up) she assured me that it was fine and the swelling would reduce if I followed her lead. She explained to me why I reacted and that only a few people do. I listened and trusted her and my skin is flawless! I am really happy I gave DMK a second chance, my skin hasn't had a bad reaction since. I swear by the enzymes now.
The Enzyme facial itself is quite uncomfortable. Still to this day I don't love the feeling. This mask sets on your face and is very active, pretty much like cement when it drys. You can't move. Sometimes I feel fine, sometimes itchy, other times I feel claustrophobic.
DMK explains it like this:
"The Enzymes in the mask are living substances that regulate health and work with certain minerals in the body to form a natural system of antioxidants that fight corrosive free radicals. Properly formulated, they can remove dead protein, toxins and other effluvia from the epidermis using a process called ‘reverse osmosis’.
Where some cosmetic facial treatments may only act on the surface of the skin, DMK Enzyme Treatments work with the skin. The enzymes aim to strengthen the structural integrity of the skin to create a healthy environment for cells to live and thrive in.
Enzyme Therapy exercises facial muscles and works to leave the skin feeling firm."
The interesting thing with the Enzyme facials is after the mask is removed your skin can sometimes have a "Plasma effect" where you can see tiny blood vessels come to the surface. It looks like something out of True Blood. It's a positive sign that the treatment is working. Its actually quite addictive. I am always hoping for a really dense plasma effect. It only lasts 30 mins so you don't look like a freak show.
Your skin looks incredible immediately. Even though the mask doesn't feel incredible, I keep going back because of the results. The packaging isn't flashy and they aren't scented and pretty but they work.
I ended up giving away all my Synergie products and bought all new DMK ones (yes I was kicking myself to waste so much money on products)
My skin regime looks like this:
First I use the DMK Cleanser
Then I use the Beta gel serum and the Direct delivery vitamin C serum together
Then I use the Herbal Pigment oil and the Biogen C moisturiser and I use the Herb Spritz to make the product sink in (Very important step)
I then use a basic spf if its day time.
The Enzyme facials are between $170-$180 depending where you go. To begin its suggested you have them weekly or fortnightly. From there it spaces out and it will be once every couple of months towards the end.
I have never had such gorgeous skin ever. Deb is even working on a "sun/age" spot I have had building for years. In only 2 months its almost gone and we haven't used any lasers or anything invasive. It is a miracle.
