Eating out: Queenstown edition
I welcomed the New Year in Queenstown, New Zealand and found a few spots that I will be returning to for sure. Botswana butchery
Hands down the best cooked steak/venison/chicken you will ever have! EVER!!!!!!! And the best Peking duck pancakes. Way better than Mr Wongs that I recommended in Sydney. They do something with their duck which allows it to have so much flavour but no skin or fat. Its shredded and comes in generous servings. I get one of these to myself and no I won't share.
Madame Woo by Josh Emmett
The best Asian fusion I have had in Queenstown! Actually in the whole of NZ. They make wraps out of Roti bread stuffed with marinated chicken or pork sprinkled with a couple of shredded veggies for crunch. The Pork Shu Mai is also delish.
Saffron in Arrowtown
We had a 7 course degustation and it was perfection. Every serving was a hit. Some of the dishes included were the white bait 3 ways, oysters with sake drops, venison perfectly cooked, beef rib and a whole quail. It was really special and reasonably priced for such exquisite food.
We also ate at Vudu Cafe but it was too packed and cramped... in saying that the food and fresh green juices are mighty delish. We went to Flame's which is one of Benjs fav's because boys love meat I guess.. It's ok. The ribs are better at Hurricanes and the steak is way better at Botswana. But they do have lunch specials from $15.
